I had a few friends growing up with shoulder parrots. I would feed them fruit and we would take the parrots on weekend trips and out with the horses on old lumber trails. It was very piratey/adventurer vibes. When I was learning how to solder circuit boards, the person teaching me had a shoulder parrot and we would sneak extra fruit from the cafeteria to his work bag so he could feed the parrot. He'd had the parrot for like 30yrs. Another friend had a 90year old parrot. I also had friends with sugar gliders they'd bring to university classes and we'd pass them around and feed them fruit. The teacher wanted to lecture with one on his shoulder once so it kinda became the class mascot for a semester.

I was thinking, when I saw this photo, if Rukmini did have a pet parrot like they say, it would probably have been a friend she picked up in her young years and because they both lived so long it probably was still alive when Dwarka went back into the ocean. The things that parrot would have known...It probably imitated Krishna and they'd play pranks on people...that's how it happened in my head at least...Krishna and Rukmini's parrot ganging up on Balrama or Arjun would be classic. He'd probably have the parrot call out someone's name to distract them and then he'd sneak behind and set up a prank or steal ghee from the kitchens...while the person is chasing this voice that sounds like Krishna and it just keeps getting further away...the little parrot probably went with him when he was charioteering because Rukmini didn't want him going alone and then she'd get the truth of what happened from the parrot because Krishna didn't want her to worry so he wouldn't tell the whole story but the parrot couldn't lie to Mata because she'd split a laddoo with it or something...

I had a customer come to a booth I ran for a while with parakeets in a clear backpack with an entire jungle gym in the pack. That was really entertaining. They bought little amethyst charms for the little birds to play with. Turns out @cybertimetravelrunaway had a parrot like bird growing up too. I never personally had a parrot-at least in this lifetime who knows about previous lifetimes. I probably had a shoulder parrot or a cockatiel. I have one of those magnetic shoulder chameleon stuffies that's pretty cute. But I did have a pet chicken growing up that I would take to chicken shows. It would get blue ribbons and that was fun. It laid green eggs. Turns out my grandpa on my mother's side also had a pet chicken growing up. I guess it's been a thing in my family to have a pet chicken as a kid. And I mean pet like give it baths and it would chill with me when I would do my homework and what not kind of pet.

Hope you get to experience more animal adventures as the sun starts to spend more time with the earthlings coming out of hibernation. My tomato plants and I somehow never got the memo it was winter. They are flowering in freezing temps-one just grew an actual tomato- and am still here wearing flipflops...There was a lady at the mall last week in a light cotton sari and flipflops. we had a moment she looked at my juttis I looked at her flipflops and we had this understanding that it was so cold we were inside the mall and not visiting the outdoor vendors. I felt like she probably would have had a parrot if we weren't in America and inside an American mall wondering how we both ended up here...
